After two consecutive, successful years
showcasing together at Garden Week,
Ceri Wagnell and Monica Palmer
combined their passion for timeless gardens,
natural products and beautiful accessories to
launch Empire Lane in 2010.
At Garden Week, their display has twice been
awarded Best Landscape Design Display, and in
2010 the duo won the Grand Champion award for
their very popular In the Pink display.
Empire Lane uses Mediterranean-style plants,
which are tough, waterwise and strong in colour,
form and fragrance, while deciduous trees provide
shade in summer and allow sunshine in winter.
Empire Lane’s clients can enjoy viewing
3D designs that show great attention to
detail, alongside the newly created landscape
installation division – Garden Empire.
The owners of this home wanted a garden
designed with restraint that suited their relaxed
lifestyle. They also requested productive, scented
and colourful planting throughout and a lawn
area for their two dogs.
In addition, an opening roof system over
the entertainment area was a must, as were a
swimming pool and a new shed.
Honed concrete pathways (in Tamburri finish)
and grey composite decking feature throughout.
Pink Hibiscus hedging will eventually screen
out the Colorbond fence along the boundary.
Beautifully scented murraya and michelia were
planted around the pool and entertaining area,
while ornamental pear trees were positioned
for summer shade and autumn colour change.
Fruit trees, passionfruit vines and a vegetable
patch were planted in the rear garden around
the brick and tile shed.
The swimming pool features a large water
wall, with an outdoor shower to the side and
pool equipment hidden behind.
The feature tile, chosen by the owner,
was also used on the smaller water feature at
the front of the house, flanked by Magnolia
grandiflora ‘Kay Parris’.
