Home' Outdoors : WAs Best Outdoors and Gardens 2010-11 Contents WA’s Best Outdoors & Gardens 2011 237
As West Australians, we’re fortunate to be
able to spend much of the year outdoors.
It makes sense, then, that we would want
to decorate our outdoor living space just as we
would our home’s interior.
Garden art is a great way to personalise a
garden. Whether the piece is small or large,
dramatic or discreet, outdoor art is not only a
talking point among guests, but also an ongoing
source of inspiration for homeowners.
Husband-and-wife team Allen and Jeannie
Buchardt are known Australia-wide for their
ability to take a client’s design brief and turn it
into an individual, tailor-made piece.
Their company, Tavoli Designs, produces
tables, sculptures, water features, murals, planters
and plaques, proving that garden art encompasses
more than just statues.
The duo only produces commissioned works
and believes that nothing is impossible. Once
clients come to them with a basic idea, Allen and
Jeannie will enhance and perfect it, producing
drawings for the client to view.
Materials used in Tavoli creations include stone,
marble, travertine, 24-carat gold, silver, stainless
steel, brass, ceramics, glass and wrought iron.
The company even has its own kilns for
creating the ceramic and glass pieces. Kiln-fired
glass is Jeannie’s specialty and her works form
a large part of Tavoli’s creations, whether it’s
a stand-alone piece or incorporated into a table
or water feature.
As well as residential gardens, Tavoli Designs
also creates pieces for offices and public spaces.
All pieces are one-offs so clients can rest assured
that they won’t see their prized new artwork
