Antony Konig Landscapes landscape designers
Antony Konig loves to be inspired by
visiting gardens in Europe and also seeing
those closer to home.
He also enjoys the process of finding out what
people want from their garden, even if, at first,
they can’t quite articulate it. He then helps them
realise the potential of their outdoor space.
Sourcing plants from interstate, experimenting
with cultivated varieties, relying on trusted
favourites and incorporating hardscaping, Antony
designs gardens that suit not only the Australian
climate, but also the lifestyle and wishes of the
client. And because he designs and constructs,
he knows that the garden is going to work, both
practically and aesthetically.
A look at the Antony Konig Landscapes website
shows a range of garden styles and Antony is
looking forward to being even more creative.
In 2008, he was named the Water Corporation’s
Waterwise Landscaper and, over the years, he has
also won a few Landscape Industries Association
of Western Australia awards.
WEST LEEDERVILLE LANDSCAPE
The owner of this West Leederville property
wanted a low-maintenance front garden filled
with native plants to attract birds.
Antony Konig Landscapes took care of both the
design and construction of the garden.
The brick paving was replaced with wide-
board Alaskan yellow cedar decking, which the
owner wants to fade to a rustic grey colour.
A poured limestone path snakes through
the garden, adding a sense of space in what is
essentially a small area. It also allows the bins to
be stored out of sight down the side of the house.
To attract birds, grevilleas, eucalyptus ‘silver
princess’ and kangaroo paws were introduced,
while the verge also got the ‘native treatment’.
The small garden now appears larger and more
private. The owner is so happy that she has asked
Antony to design the back garden too.
The garden is full of bird-attracting
plants, such as grevilleas, eucalyptus
‘silver princess’ and kangaroo paws.
